Fermo Project

Press release

Fermo. A small historic town over-looking the Adriatic sea. Inhabitants 37,500. A cobbled piazza with porticos, traditional shops, slow food, a decorated theatre, a Romanesque cathedral, a peaceful, civil place to live, to visit, to spend some time.

In the busy, historic centre of this town many fine buildings stand empty, their shutters closed, neglected, needing attention. Around them life goes on and new developments are emerging. Cecilia Romani Adami, who recently restored her family palazzo in Fermo, asked me if I could help. If there was a way I could find interesting people to restore the historic buildings of Fermo.

Tackling a decaying palazzo or a shabby hotel is a challenge, not only due to the finance required, but also because of the array of professional skills needed to steer such a project to success. What was needed was both international investment and local support.

I hold a belief that in our fast, fluctuating world, such a gentle town, not hugely known, with a view of the sea in one direction, mountain peaks to the other, where you eat lunch at leisure, stroll beneath pine trees, breathe fresh air, where stress feels absent, yet there is much to inspire, is something deeply attractive and the kind of place many people wish to spend time.

So rusty keys were found, plans fetched from cellars and doors long closed were opened onto the fading interiors of Fermo. There was much to photograph, measure, question, explore. Above all to consider what Fermo needed, what it has to offer, how best to begin. An excellent local property lawyer was found, Avvocato Claudia Bonanno, who knew every palazzo, portico and politician in town. After over a year of research, and with the commitment to the project from the Mayor of Fermo, Dottore Saturnino Di Ruscio, Miller Houses is delighted to have accepted an exclusive portfolio of property: FERMO PROJECT.
